Keep in mind that...
Learners have busy, full lives, so they may not have much time to practise English or do homework.
The tutoring session may be the only time during the week when the learner hears or has a chance to speak English.
Learning a new language takes time and a lot of repetition.
It is very stressful and tiring adjusting to a new language, culture and community.
What is most rewarding about being a tutor is seeing the delight in the learner's eyes when he/she begins to communicate meaningfully...at last we understand each other!
