Module 2: Meeting the ESL Learner

Introduction

The first step to becoming a successful tutor is having the ability to understand, respect, and appreciate adult ESL learners. This module introduces you to the adult ESL learner and gives you insight into the challenges of learning a new language.

In Module 2, you will:

• learn about adult ESL learners and their tutoring needs
• identify a number of factors that may affect the learner
• be introduced to the concept of learning styles
