Part One: Completion

I would like to tell potential tutors not to be afraid of taking on this challenge. The learners are totally non-critical and grateful for the friendship and companionship of their tutor. Just spending time with them, conversing in English, and discussing topical items will accomplish many of their goals. The more detailed lesson plans, worksheets, etc. are really just icing on the cake.

You’ve now completed the first part of the ESLSAP Tutor Training.

We hope that you now understand a little more about becoming an ESLSAP tutor.

After completing this initial training, you should now:

know what an ESLSAP tutor does.
understand the challenges facing the ESL learner.
recognize the importance of taking a learner centred
approach to tutoring
understand the effects of cultural adjustment on English
language learning.
recognize effective communication techniques.
