Self-Reflection

The tool provides a way to help you reflect on your program and practice. Reflecting involves taking a step back and considering things from an objective viewpoint to develop deeper understanding:

  • Was a situation successful—why or why not?
  • How do I know (what is my evidence)?
  • Were there any comments from children/caregivers on the situation that helped me understand how it went?
  • Would I do anything differently?

Reflecting helps identify your accomplishments and areas where things are working, as well as identifying less successful areas. Action can be taken in both situations— acknowledging successes and planning improvements.

Reflecting on quality is a cyclical process, encouraging ongoing purposeful thought and meaningful conversations.
