What is critical reflection? Critical reflection
- Involves thinking carefully about our beliefs
- Helps us to understand the cultural, social, material, and historical forces that affect how we see ourselves, and how we see others
- Affects how we view the world
An individual or group can engage in critical reflection. The group process includes dialogue with colleagues and with the broader community.
Remember, not all educators are the same. Educators may
- Have different experiences and histories
- Have different beliefs and goals
- Think differently about children, learning, and education. Therefore, their critical reflections may be different as well
