Module 3: Living Inquiries – Well-Being and Belonging

What Are Living Inquiries?

Living inquiries were once called “areas of learning.” They refer to the way children, educators, materials, and ideas work together as children think and learn.

According to the Early Learning Framework

  • “Living” refers to processes that are ongoing and always evolving
  • “Inquiring” refers to noticing or paying attention. You can do this in many ways, such as studying, exploring, experimenting, or asking questions

What Are the Pathways?

For each of the living inquiries, there are many surprising pathways that can guide educators to engage with the living inquiries.

What Are the Critically Reflective Questions?

For each of the pathways, the Early Learning Framework presents a series of questions to support critical reflection. These questions can help you to think about how the living inquiries can enhance or expand your practice.
