Treatment Notifications for Residential Applications
Before you apply pesticides to landscaped areas, you are required to notify, in writing, any occupants or tenants who live on the property.
As a Landlord
You must notify:
- tenants who rent a suite on the property where you live;
- tenants who rent a house or suite on property you own;
- any other occupants that live on the property where you plan to apply pesticides.
As a Tenant
You must first get permission from the property owner for the application. Once you have permission for the application, you must notify:
- the owner or manager of the land, and
- any other occupants or tenants.
Notification Requirements
The form of the notice is flexible and can include things such as:
- a “door knocker”
- an information sheet
- a pamphlet
The treatment notice must contain the following information:
- A description of the treatment area
- The name(s) of the target pest(s)
- The registration (PCP Act) number(s) and active ingredient(s) in the pesticide(s)
- The proposed date and start time of the pesticide use (and proposed alternate dates and times of pesticide use)
- The name of the RAC holder and the RAC number
- A phone number at which the RAC holder can be reached for more information about the proposed pesticide use
- Precautions that should be taken to minimize exposure to a pesticide or its residues, including specifying the period following treatment during which people should not enter the treatment area
