What does joy look like to you?
Black joy is freedom and freeing. It is a quiet feeling of peace, and it is a loud feeling expressed through laughter, dancing, food, and music among many other things. Black joy is important because despite the barriers placed before Black people to stop their success in society, Black folks are thriving.
Laughing and having fun with friends while playing games, sports, socializing, or sharing meals and stories at family gatherings and holidays are all examples of Black Joy. Explore other examples in the above image.
