The I Am Because We Are educational website and accompanying Teacher’s Guide PDF are critical tools for accessing information about Black Canadian historical and lived experience in B.C. as well as other regions in Canada. The resources are designed for a grades 6 to 9 audience.
Contributing Educators’ Statement
We are racialized settlers of African and Caribbean descent, and we respectfully acknowledge that we that we met, worked, and collaborated on this project on the unceded and traditional lands of the Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. We recognize that this work will reach the vast corners of this province and acknowledge the 204 First Nations who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial. Thank you.
